Our legislative and procurement lobbying clients include major corporations and trade associations. Our corporate clients include Eli Lilly, Baltimore Gas & Electric, and Waste Management, among many others. We represent multiple trade associations including the Maryland State Medical Society, National Waste and Recycling Association, the Maryland State Licensed Beverage Association, Mid-Atlantic Lifespan (senior care providers), and the Maryland Motor Truck Association. Through this representation, we cover a range of industries including health care, information technology, alcoholic beverages, energy, insurance, vehicle manufacturing, gaming, pharmaceutical, environmental, and telecommunications.
Our Firm has substantial administrative and civil law experience. The legal work of our attorneys often involves controversial public policy issues and challenges to State and local regulatory authority, as well as representation of companies and individuals in regulatory, disciplinary, licensing, and procurement matters. Schwartz, Metz, Wise & Kauffman, P.A. is the successor to a firm founded by Joseph A. Schwartz, III in 1978. Our office is located at 20 West Street in historic downtown Annapolis, just steps from the Maryland State House, numerous State agencies, and the State’s appellate courts.

SENIOR PARTNER
Steve Wise joined the Firm in 2002 and became a partner in 2008. Early in his career with the Firm he was recognized by the The Gazette as one of the “Rising Stars” of the State House lobbying corps, and he has consistently ranked among the top earning lobbyists in Annapolis since that time.

SENIOR PARTNER
Danna L. Kauffman, Esq. joined the firm in 2013 and became a partner in 2017. Throughout her career Danna has worked in various levels of State government and in the private sector.

Mr. Schwartz, the Firm’s founding attorney, now serves “Of Counsel” and continues to provide the Firm’s clients and its attorneys with critical and strategic counsel on legislative, regulatory and legal matters.

Christine joined Schwartz, Metz, Wise & Kauffman, P.A. in the summer of 2014 as the Manager of Government Affairs. Prior to joining the Firm she worked for the Bill Drafting office in the Department of Legislative Services.
